The blushing Bulgarian angelfish, or koi Bulgarian angelfish, is another positive offspring of the Cold War. The Bulgarian gene promotes inky black fins on a cream or koi body. Koi Bulgarians have orange and cream bodies with the Bulgarian dark fins. The sometimes open operculum in juvenile angels closes as the fish ages, as is the case with  koi angelfish in particular.
